    3-Day Madidi Ecolodge Jungle Program

    The Madidi National Park in the upper Amazon River basin of Bolivia has an area of 18,958 square km (7,320 square miles). More than 20,000 species are found in Madidi with over 1,200 bird species, representing 14% of the world’s bird species.

    In this jungle program, you will visit one of the most biologically diverse and pristine protected areas in the world. This tour is recommended for travelers who like wildlife sighting and photography; and it is a great opportunity to see wild macaws, white-lipped peccaries, Brazilian Tapir, several species of monkeys and even the elusive jaguar.

    Enjoy the guided day and night tours to learn about the amazing wildlife from indigenous experts. Travel by boat through the Beni and Tuichi rivers surrounded by impressive views, and enjoy treks in the middle of the Madidi National Park.

    1. DAY 1 Madidi Ecolodge Jungle Program

      Flight La Paz – Rurrenabaque (booked on your own). From the airplane, take in the impressive sights of the Royal Mountain Range and the Andes Mountain Range.

      One of the guides will meet you at the airport, and then you will travel by motorboat to the Ecolodge. The boat trip takes about 3 hours through the Beni and Tuichi rivers, with an excellent opportunity to observe the beautiful landscapes such as the Bala Canyon and the wildlife.

      Once at the lodge, you will enjoy lunch and relax in the hammocks.

      After lunch, get ready for a 3-hour guided hike along the Tareche trail, where you will observe a variety of bird species, mainly macaws and parrots, and different species of mammals such as the white-lipped peccary, the brown capuchin monkey and the red howler monkey.

      You will hike along the Aguapolo river bank and return to the Ecolodge by the Wabu Trail.

      After dinner, you will have the chance to observe the nocturnal wildlife. On this night walk, you will see many species of insects, amphibians and reptiles, such as tarantulas and frogs

    2. DAY 2 Madidi Ecolodge Jungle Program

      After breakfast, you will have a 3-hour guided hike along the Biwa Trail, where black spider monkeys are often seen. Along this trail, you will stop at the natural Madidi scenic viewpoint, where you will have a panoramic view of the rainforest’s canopy.

      You will return to the Ecolodge along the Tareche Trail for lunch, and then you will have a 3-hour guided walk by the Mapajo and Almendrillo Trails, where you will appreciate the Giant Kapok Tree, Almendrillo Tree and the Strangler Fig Tree.

      Your local guide will give an in-depth explanation of the diverse species of plants used for medicinal purposes with ancestral benefits. It is a great opportunity to understand, appreciate and learn about the Amazon ecosystems, whilst observing the pristine environment and different species of wildlife.

      You will return by the Dati Trail and relax for a while before dinner, which is going to be a traditional “Dunucuabi” (catfish wrapped in leaves).

    3. DAY 3 Departure

      After breakfast, enjoy a short boat ride along the Tuichi river, followed by a short hike on the Serere Trail. You will arrive at the Piraña lagoon, where you will have the chance to see yellow squirrel monkeys and try fishing piranhas.

      Then, you will visit a large, recently discovered mammal salt lick.

      After lunch at the lodge, you will return to Rurrenabaque with an optional visit of Caquiahuara, where you will have the chance to see the red and green macaws and other species of parrots.

      Birdwatching can be done anytime during the year, however it is more frequent from May to December. The trip is a great opportunity to see some exotic species such as capybaras, tapirs, turtles or caimans. The return trip will take only 2 hours.

      Once in Rurrenabaque, we will transfer you to the airport (domestic flight not included).

    If possible, it is recommended that you arrive in Rurrenabaque the day before your Chalalan Jungle Program.

    The departure of the boat to Chalalan is scheduled for 07:30 am, although it may be modified, but for safety reasons it can be delayed only until noon.

    Please note that the return time from the Chalalan Lodge to Rurrenabaque will be in the morning after an early lunch, the exact time will be confirmed by the guide.
