Rally Dakar 2018 in Bolivia

The Dakar 2018 is the longest and most extreme rally race in the world. It brings together more than 500 competitors from more than 60 countries during its 15-day duration. Terrain conditions are rough, which makes for a thrilling and nerve-wracking experience for both racers and spectators alike.

In this 40th edition, the Dakar 2018 Rally will take place between January 6th, and January 20th. In addition, the nearly 10,000 Km. off-road racing circuit will go through the South American countries of Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Dakar fanatics will have the opportunity to camp along the route to follow and cheer their favorite teams. Race cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs will participate in this highly anticipated event.

The Dakar 2018 Bolivia segment will begin in La Paz, the highest capital in the world (3,600m. absl). It will continue through the Oruro region, the salt flats of Uyuni and the desert of Tupiza. It will then continue on to Salta, Argentina. Conditions in Bolivia are among the most extreme for participants due to  long driving distances through dunes, salt flats, rough terrain, extreme temperatures, and high altitudes. Nevertheless, the landscape is among the most beautiful, and includes the Uyuni Salt Flats, the most impressive salt desert in the planet.
