Flight La Paz – Rurrenabaque (Amaszonas Z8-350 departing at 09:30 and arriving at 10:00 – booked on your own). From the airplane, take in the impressive sights of the Royal Mountain Range and the Andes Mountain Range.

At the airport, meet and greet by one of our guides and transfer to the motorboat that will take you to the Ecolodge. The boat trip takes approximately 5 ½ hours through the Beni and Tuichi rivers (snack is provided along the way), with an excellent opportunity to observe the tropical jungle flora and fauna. Upon arrival at the port, you will follow a path for 25 minutes to the Chalalán Lake where the Ecolodge is situated.

After lunch, take a short walk through the surrounding paths where a local guide will discuss the practices of the wet tropical forest. Return to the Ecolodge by canoe observing some birds and monkey species along the way.

Evening: After dinner, take a short evening guided stroll to observe nocturnal animals and a variety of insects.

Overnight in Chalalán Ecolodge

Morning and afternoon: After breakfast, take a 3-4 hour walk through the Tapacaré (or similar) path where your guide will deepen the discussion of the wet forests and their ecological processes. Return to the Ecolodge for lunch and a short break. In the afternoon, visit the lookout point to observe beautiful panoramic views of the Chalalán Lake and the Madidi National Park. Your guide will explain the history of the local community, the Chalalán project and the Madidi Park. Return to the Ecolodge.

Evening: A buffet of typical food will be served this evening. Afterwards, take a canoe ride and observe the remarkable shine of caiman eyes and other nocturnal animals. Later, enjoy an authentic Quechua – Tacana cultural experience. Local guides will explain the customs and rituals of the Uchupiamonas indigenous people. Taste a traditional beverage, listen to local music and dance with members of the community of San José de Uchupiamonas.

Overnight in Chalalán Ecolodge

Morning and afternoon: After breakfast take a final stroll through one of the surrounding paths where you’ll have one last opportunity to observe tropical forest animals and birds. Return to the Ecolodge for lunch, and afterwards, walk to the port of Chalalán to take a 3-hour motorboat ride to Rurrenabaque. Keep a watchful eye along the way so you can see more animals. Transfer to the airport to take your flight back to La Paz (Amaszonas Z8-359 departing at 17:30 and arriving at 18:00 – booked on your own).
